STOP #7 - Claims

This is the claims area, located in the main 6th floor Depository Distribution Division work area. These shelves hold the claims for all paper, electronic, and separate shipments. All claims are screened and verified before they are filled and sent to each depository library in outgoing shipment boxes. Naturally, if the number of copies LPS originally received is already short, then insufficient copies may be available for claims.

Depositories are given 60 days to file a claim. It should take less than 30 days for a depository to receive a shipment, verify contents, and mail or fax back its claim to LPS or to the appropriate microfiche contractor.

NOTE: Microfiche claims are processed directly by the microfiche contractors and NOT by GPO.
