Data topics include: age, money and personal income, population, education, health care and human services, housing ownership and value, births, deaths, poverty, local government finance, employment, etc. In addition, tables show data on business, banking, climate, elections, and social programs. Data come from the Census Bureau, other federal government agencies, and private organizations.

2001 ZIP Code Business Patterns CD-ROM. C 3.298:2001, S.L. 2003-0031-e 2002 Economic Census – first reports due out in First Quarter 2004.

Redesigned American Community Survey Web Site Launched Sept 2, 2003. The redesigned site http://www.census.gov/acs/www was launched and provides quick and easy access to basic survey information and statistical data. The site combines ACS and supplementary survey information in one location and includes a page on new quality measures (under "Advanced Methodology").

Historical Census Volumes to be posted – as part of a contract, many volumes in the historical Censuses and the Statistical Abstracts were scanned. These are image files (there is no text "behind" the files) so have presented Section 508 concerns (ADA) for the Census Bureau. At the beginning of September we saw a demonstration page with some of the older Statistical Abstracts.

Note: A woman who attended the session asked if the Historical Statistics of the United States volume would be included in this. It doesn’t look like that volume was scanned as part of the project, so the answer at this point in time looks like ‘no.’ (But we’ll put it on our wish list!)

Census Bureau Training: http://www.census.gov/mso/www/training/index.htm Reservations on posted classes open up approximately 90 days before the training dates. All are subject to cancellation if we don’t have enough registrants.

This site also has links to the Presentation Library with PowerPoint slide presentations for public use, and links to the SF1 DVD-ROM tutorial.
