How does the library define the mission of the online catalog?

  • Reflection of library’s inventory or access tool for resources outside of library walls?
  • Clarify how "owned resources vs. free online resources should be treated.
  • What is the acceptable level of accuracy?

How will resources be identified for cataloging?

What linking method should be used? PURL vs URL

Is there a system for checking links? (Example from UNT)

  • Link checking provided by library catalog system?
  • Part of library-wide web page management?
  • Does system used check PURLs?

How will titles with multiple formats be represented?

  • Single vs. multiple records for tangible and electronic formats? (Example from UNT)
  • GPO practice varies according to material
  • Local needs should prevail, but consider potential work load

How will usage be assessed?
